ISTQB certification exam Helsinki
General
(English version below)
The ISTQB certification exam is supervised by a FiSTB representative. Officially reviewed and approved exam questions are used in the certification exams. Each exam is unique, but they may contain the same questions.
The questions
The exam has multiple choice questions, each of which usually has only one correct answer. You get one point for a correct answer. Some questions may ask for two or three correct answers, which will be mentioned separately. In some exams, there may also be more than one point per question. In addition, in the Expert exams, some of the questions are essay-type, which are written on a computer. Points are not deducted for wrong answers. A participant who gets at least 65% of the questions correct passes the certification exam, and FiSTB issues the corresponding certificate.
Duration of the exam
The duration of the exam varies depending on the exam type. Test-takers whose mother tongue is not the same as the language of the exam get 25% extra time. The test time in minutes can be found on FiSTB's website: See table
Those with dyslexia get 30 minutes more time for the exam (remember to be prepared to present a medical certificate at the exam location).
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for the ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level exam. In all other exams, the ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level certificate is a prerequisite. In addition, the prerequisite for the Expert level exam is at least 1.5 years of practical testing experience.
Means
Test takers can use a dictionary (not electronic) and a simple pocket calculator (not programmable) in the exam, which are checked and approved by the exam proctor before the start of the exam. Test takers may also use the vocabulary published on FiSTB's website, which does not include explanations of the terms. Other aids, e.g. cell phones, syllabus or course material, may not be used in the exam.
