Cybersecurity Review 2024
The seminar was held in Helsinki on May 15, 2024.

Artificial intelligence, robotics, cybercrime, and an unstable global geopolitical situation are affecting our world in unprecedented ways. While new technologies offer immense opportunities, they also introduce new threats to all aspects of business and security.

Tietoturva ry organized the Cybersecurity Review 2024 seminar in Helsinki on May 15, 2024. The seminar featured leading Finnish experts and international keynote speakers who provided insights into the future of the digital world and the associated risks.

Sarah Armstrong-Smith from Microsoft emphasized the growing significance of cyberattacks and cyber influence operations globally, particularly highlighting Russia’s actions against Ukraine. She also stressed the importance of collaboration and information sharing in combating cyber threats.

Ilmari Luoma from CGI pointed out that companies are increasingly focusing on ensuring business continuity rather than just growth. Geopolitical tensions and cyber threats are interconnected and have a significant impact on corporate security.

Bastian Jacobsson from CrowdStrike highlighted that attacks targeting cloud services have increased significantly, with attack speed also on the rise. Artificial intelligence is being used more frequently in attacks, but it also offers opportunities for defense.

Marcus Murray from Truesec discussed the importance of preparedness and rapid response in preventing data breaches. Organizations should improve password practices, manage access rights, and utilize modern threat detection and monitoring tools.

Harri Turtiainen from Applixure spoke about the importance of the digital employee experience and cybersecurity. In the era of cloud services, the security of workstations is crucial, and employees should experience security as a seamless and invisible part of their work.

Marja Dunderfelt from Huawei emphasized the importance of cybersecurity for business continuity and reliability. Investing in cybersecurity is crucial, and its impacts should be communicated clearly to management.

Member of Parliament Jarno Limnéll discussed Finland’s strengthening position in technology and cybersecurity. He underscored the importance of international partnerships and the growth of expertise.

Kimmo Rousku illustrated the impacts of quantum computing, robotics, and artificial intelligence on cybersecurity. Quantum computers could revolutionize encryption methods, and the use of artificial intelligence presents both threats and opportunities.

At the end of the seminar, Rousku announced that the next Cybersecurity Review 2024 seminar will be held at the Ritarihuone in Helsinki on November 14, 2024, just before the Finnish Security Awards, so be sure to mark the date on your calendar.

The seminar is aimed at anyone interested in the future and security of the digital world. It is an excellent opportunity to learn new things and network with professionals in the field.
