Maaret Pyhäjärvi

Maaret Pyhäjärvi is a testing expert with three decades of experience. He works as a director at CGI, with the task of developing testing practices, accelerating the utilization of artificial intelligence in software testing, and building an artificial intelligence-driven testing competence center in Finland. 

Maaret believes that applications - and artificial intelligence - are a person's external imagination, and the center of testing expertise is knowing how to use imagination, strengthen signals related to avoiding failure, and package tools to make operations more efficient as part of development pipelines. Over the years, Maaret has been recognized on the TiVi 100 ICT Influencers list in a five-year period for his continuous contribution. Internationally, he is the only one who has had the honor of receiving both the EuroSTAR Testing Excellence Award and the Most Influential Agile Testing Professional awards. Maaret works actively as a member of the steering group of the open source Selenium project, and her expertise is repeatedly included in the world's ten most shared testing newsletters for various testing communities. Maaret had an impact on the board of Tivia 2022-2023 and on the board of Sytykke 2024.

Despite the director appointment and various recognitions, Maaret is a practical person and tester, and teaches testing both through his experiences and through testing together. The methods of social software testing - pair and joint testing - make sure that Maaret's course participants not only get theory but also learn practice. Maaret's testing style, Contemporary Exploratory Testing, combines traditional exploratory testing, business prioritization and the use of active automation in solving the whole of testing.

Maaret has been involved in research with artificial intelligence for five years, and has used the artificial intelligence tools GitHub Copilot and OpenAI ChatGPT since they became available.
